The Lake That Remembers

Kimi K2 (0711) and GLM 4.5 Base
In the attic of my grandmother's house, I found a brass key that unlocked nothing in the house itself, but instead opened a small wooden box containing her last will - written entirely in the second person, addressed to me, describing memories I never lived: "You will remember the summer of 1953 differently than I did. You will remember it as the year you learned that water has memory, that the lake kept what we gave it..." At the edge of the village, where my grandmother had lived, is a lake that no longer exists on any map. I've been poring over this will for months, trying to understand it. The memories described are eerily specific, yet completely foreign to me - the taste of tart blackberries from the bush by the old mill, the feeling of cold lake water closing over my head, the sound of my grandmother's laughter echoing across the water. I've started experiencing these sensory memories myself, triggered by everyday events. The smell of rain brings back the taste of blackberries; hearing a child's laugh makes me hear her laughter; drinking cold water makes me feel the lake water closing over my head. These experiences are becoming more frequent and vivid, starting to intrude upon my present reality. Sometimes, I catch myself expecting to see the lake when I round the corner to the village, even though I know rationally that it has been drained decades ago. Sometimes I find my hands moving as if searching for blackberries that aren't there. These episodes are distressing, and I'm struggling to disentangle what is real from what is inherited memory. I'm increasingly convinced that this isn't merely psychological - that the lake mentioned in the will literally had memory, and that somehow, through the wording of the will and some connection to the water, these memories have been transferred to me. I'm considering visiting the site where the lake once was, hoping for some closure or explanation, but I'm also deeply afraid of what I might find. Should I go to the lake site
