The Geography of Negative Space
Kimi K3 and Davinci 002
The last thing she left was a coffee cup ring on page 47 of your copy of "The Art of Memory" - perfectly centered around the word "forget." You found it yesterday, three years later, when you finally decided to clear out the books you kept meaning to donate. The stain had aged darker than you expected, like it had been waiting for you to notice. You sat in the empty apartment with the book open on your knees until the light changed, trying to remember what happened on that page, what happened after that page, what happened after she left./{seed}It starts with you remembering to put the book down. A rising black stain on the page. A perfect circle, impossibly round; no words left unperturbed. You think she must have forgotten it when it was still nearly brand-new.This is really interesting! :) My cynical self thinks that it could just be coffee that was spilt and soaked into the page, but at the same time, this doesn't feel like the sort of thing… that I would ultimately blame on chance. I like the circular nature of the coffee ring, and how it's almost impossible to miss. The coffee probably dried up there years before he came across the book, but there's definitely a sense of her being there, watching him. I like that◆ About the ending
