The last time anyone logged into the forum was March 23, 2014, at 2:47 AM. The timestamp still glows electric blue in the upper corner, counting seconds no one sees. A thread called "URGENT: Please Read" has been marked unread for 3,287 days. Its creator, username xXSilent_WraithXx, never got the answers they were waiting for. The server hums in a rack somewhere in Virginia, forgotten but not unplugged. Every night at 2:47 AM, it runs the same routine maintenance script, deleting spam accounts that stopped being created years ago. Tonight, something different happens. Tonight, the routine breaks. Tonight, xXSilent_WraithXx logs in again. Their status changes from "Offline for 8 years, 11 months, 3 weeks, 1 day" to "Online - Viewing Thread: URGENT: Please Read". The forum's system messages flash to life and bring up an error. The system can't log xXSilent_WraithXx out of whatever summary it's been reduced to, so instead the forum pretends they never logged in. Teal text appears over the "Remote User:" blank, which previously stored only an address. A certain hostname and URL begin to appear, as well. It's unfamiliar, and the forum blocks access to it. Accounts begin logging themselves out in favor of this new one, and in doing so they smother xX.
