The archivist found the first note in a book that shouldn't exist. The handwriting was hers, but she had no memory of writing it. "Start at the wound," it said. "The wound is not where you think." She checked the publication date: three years from now. The second note appeared the next morning, this time in her own journal, dated yesterday. It read: "You haven't written this yet. Keep looking." She was beginning to understand that the archive was not a collection of documents. It was a conversation across time with someone who might be herself, or might be something that wore her face. The third note arrived before she could search for it.
