The Conservation Reports of the Lethean Institute: An Incomplete Catalog of What Remains After Thorough Examination
Kimi K3 and Davinci 002
ITEM #47-12-2039
Classification: Ephemeral/Memory-trace
Material: Paper fragment, 3.2cm x 1.7cm, water-damaged
Text (transcribed): "...never asked what you meant by 'sometimes clouds look like the things we've lost.' Should have known you were already leaving when you started speaking in weather reports..."
Note (Conservation): Fragment adhered to brass compass housing (see Item #47-12-2040). Attempted separation resulted in additional loss of textual material at edge margins. Recommend non-invasive imaging only.
Acquired: 23rd of Rainfall, 547th Cycle. East bank, River Lethe. Donor: Anonymous. Condition: Fragile. Handle with absence of expectation. Transit for imaging and secure containment in as-is condition.
RESULTS
IMAGING:
Initial scans unitize the… Imaginary features of this object. Significant information... Discovered in later scans, set aside for later observation.
IMAGING RECOMMENDATION: Return to field in undisturbed locale for resolution of atmospheric interference. NO ADEQUATE EXPOSURE OPTIONS AT CURRENT TIME.
SCANNING REPORT: Screen 12:
Obscured textual fragments (Page #29)- All rendered unreadable. Occasional sharp marks of the scribe provide the sparest context. See composite screen 13 below for exemplar.
Imaginary Object: Fragment... Discussion not yet possible.
Transmission reduced artifacts and noise. Uncertain if widespread presence had programmatic cause, Source random, or artifact.
IMAGING REPORT: Screen 13a:
Front composite Eyes were drawn to highlights, less as reference to foreground features, more in relation to overall shape, as though its shape as a vaguely-known whole provided context with visual echoes of familiarity - as if... Ethereal residue seemed to bank above the page as if external lights had been removed, and the last reflections remained as though an object imaged behind a sheet of water.
IMAGING REPORT: Screen 13b:
Back composite Discovered Ghostly residual 'accent markers' - sharp pen control marks, vertically aligned on backside of page, likely test run. The entire page was annihilated, but left these faint marks in the simulation of transfer. Several dozen: discarded, poor-quality test areas. Regular, evenly spaced. Unsure if program 'side-effect' or testing influence. Marked individual instances, but recorded data was inconsistent to the extent it seems unlikely programmatic.
SITE IMPRESSION: Observed impression of... Mitigate impression to the maximum extent possible. Avoid revisiting area in event of future simulacra. Causal impact of investigatory techniques unknown. Recommend full re-imaging, following removal, after safer survey.
SCAN RESULT: Screen 13c:
Front composite Low-level artificial stylization... Artifact preservation nature.
Scan result: Prototype simulation. Congeries of extraneous object-oriented fragments circumvent the Imaginary score entirely - this object impossibly exists as... Note: Beneath fragmentary score, partially-rendered contextual information.
NOTES: Very much like the remnants of something once human - hefted, seen - yet decidedly inhuman. Primarily composed of random objects. Tests have demonstrated infinite growth potential of haptenized fragments after scheduling.
SIMULATION PROTOTYPE: Screen 13d:
Composite Front Perso-morphic composite - created in response to initial scan, placing elements of detected text in basic narrative and visual context. Another simulation appears side by side with screen 13c, painted in similar 'accordion' visualization of compression and expansion of motifs - to the extent of 'invention'
Physiology: Human-scale, humanoid-orientation, three-dimensional, void of explication so far. Impossible. Transdimensional. Ha bandage over right eye. Right cloth glove on left hand. Paper 'raft' floats from left shoulder, not attached. Right free arm outstretched. Three items in untilled, scorched-looking hand, one of which has 'twin' image. Rear portion of massive, largely-uniform form observable. Strangeness level comparable to prior instance of simulative hominoid. Appears alive. Dumb. Unclear yet necessary. Visual texture largely consistent with previous simulations, though 'only' populated with real debris from simulants. Dummies. Misfiring tests. For visual rendering, roughly akin to God in The Grand Design.
IMAGING CENTER: Waning of the Sun, 547th Cycle.

Discernible pattern which repeated. Occam's Razor. How? Start from what's certain. Forget science. Start with some... Thing, like 'Cloud sift' in a cup. Level the playing field. The burner lit in my mind. If clouds melt, could we animate them as a hide? Forms emerging from the mire. English - ascendant tongue and semblances of words. Modeling language as these simulicts grown and changed.
