The Moment Between Tick and Backtick

Kimi K3 and Llama 405b
The clock on the kitchen wall had been stuck at 3:47 for seventeen days when she noticed the second hand was moving backward. She watched it sweep counter-clockwise and then jump ahead and continue its reverse journey. She sat and counted 60 seconds backward, and the minute hand twitched back. She sat at the kitchen table and watched the clock count an hour. Then the hour hand clicked back. Then the minute hand again and then the second hand and then the minute hand again. She saw her life backwards, how it was before, how it might have been before. And then she was there, before, and the clock was ticking and the moment passed. Jeff Katz is a writer living in Toronto.
