The only map that survived the fire depicted a river that flowed from the delta back to the glacier, and the ink shifted when read by moonlight. Each tribe knew the ink from another before the erosion had begun, succeeded, and migrated to the next, and were slowly but surely obsessed with replacing the ink with some new tone, but it only ever eroded the older sideways, changing tribal names instead of emphasizing tribal pasts. After, for millennia, they avoided any discussion of gray ink as an entire replacement for blue ink. Some groups have spent time underground; an effort to eradicate the starting memories of one generation of Knack, whose replacement would erode faster than the Knack of other groups.
